EuroLeague Signing deadline Update

Currently Bayern Munich has had a tough season coming in with a record of 9 wins and 16 losses they are the last team in contention to make the playoffs. However, they have a long road ahead of them as they would theoretically need to win their next 9 consecutive games in order to have a chance of making it. They have struggled throughout this season mostly due to their poor offensive efficiency as they are currently ranked 15th for offense in EuroLeague (according to bballytics). Specifically where they are lacking on offense is their 2-point shooting percentage which is a whopping 49.7% placing them at 17th place in the league. In addition to this stat they are also coming in at a 53.6% true shooting percentage putting them in contention as one of the worst shooting teams in the entire league. In order to bolster their offense it seems as though their only option is to acquire some new offensive-minded players. Due to the imminent transfer deadline they were only able to acquire Zylan Cheatham, the 27 year old American from the New Orleans Pelicans, who competes in the NBA. Having another NBA caliber player added to this Bayern Munich roster is going to be a great addition averaging about 14.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in the Pelicans' G-League affiliated team the Birmingham Squadron. In addition to this he also averaged a double-double in the 2021-2022 season with 14.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Not only is he going to be a scoring threat but also a great player for offensive and defensive rebounds enabling the team to become much more efficient on defense and offense. Hopefully as the season goes on we will see the Bayern Munich team that we're used to seeing as this season so far has been a continuous mediocre performance.

  1. It is unfortunate that Bayern has played so poorly this year but hopefully Zylan Cheatham can help the team get back on track. While it may be near-impossible to make the playoffs, it is still important to win games for overall morale and fan/brand interest. Hopefully Cheatham's G-League talent translates well to the rest of this season with Bayern!

  2. Wow! Its great to hear that Bayern Munich was able to get Cheatham before the deadline - he will hopefully be a good addition to this team with his previous stats.

  3. This post was very informative, I was not aware of how poorly Bayern has been playing. Do you think the addition of one NBA player will increase their success a lot? They will definitely not make playoffs, but they can always attempt to build around this player for the next few years.

  4. Wow, this is a great post. I had no clue how bad Bayern was, I thought they were one of the better clubs. Hopefully this addition of an NBA player will turn things around. Do you think the skill gap between this and the NBA is that large?
